Christine’s passion for children, teaching and mentoring started her career in the field of early childhood education for twenty-five years as a teacher and subsequently a principal. She has worked very closely with children aged eighteen months to twelve years old and their families. She has also set up six childcare centres as well as supervised and mentored many trainee teachers. With her expertise in this field, she has organized parent-involvement programmes, conducted trainings to equip educators and parents.

Christine’s strong personal interest in art since young and the process of counselling students with challenging behaviours alongside their parents and educators had led her to pursue Masters in Art Therapy with LASALLE College of the Arts in 2008. Upon graduation in 2010, she has been teaching the curriculum she has written for a course in LASALLE College of the Arts, imparting knowledge and skills to people from all walks of life and from all over the world.

In December 2010, Christine has set up her own practice named, “The Garden of Art Therapy. Eden (the G.A.T.E.) to bring positive transformations via different platforms. Through art therapy, she continues to impact educators, children and families in schools and communities through school-based art therapy, experiential workshops as well as sessions with individuals and groups.

As a private practitioner, Christine has successfully helped people from all walks of life to transform and make a a breakthrough in their lives, especially young children and families. Many parents have been relieved from their children’s struggles in various aspects such as low self-esteem, insecurities, aggression, anger management, inability to observe boundaries, sibling rivalry, traumas, diagnosed conditions, misdiagnosed conditions and other issues. 

Christine consistently provides psychological safety for her clients and sensitively assesses their underlying concerns, helping them recover from challenges such as insomnia and anxiety disorders.

In commitment to growth of the arena in art therapy, Christine had voluntarily served the Art Therapists’ Association Singapore as a secretary for five years since it was newly established 2010. She also finds resonance in the vision and mission of The Red Pencil and thus had participated in many of their projects in full support including a voluntary overseas trip to bring art therapy interventions to the abused youths.
